.Palliative care

Palliative does not mean “ineffective”. The definition comes from Latin , pallium that means cloak, Protection .

Palliative Care :

-uphold life and consider death  a natural event

-give relief to pain and their symptoms

-combine the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of medical assistance

-offer a supporting system to help assisting the families during the patients’ illness of mourning

-do not fasten or slow down death.

Palliative care were born 30 years ago in England and they are, today, one of the most interesting subject matter on the medicine domain. For this reason Antea is engaged in the spreading of Palliative Care through a real school organising courses addressed  to doctors, nurses, social assistants, volunteers, socio-medical operators, physiotherapists, managers of medical companies and psychologists. The goal of Palliative care is, first of all, making use of medical, nursing, social and psychological services respecting the patients will and dignity, giving him a better quality of life.

The hospice conveys an actual feeling of  a protected and comfortable place for patients and their families in a particular PERIOD of their illness .

Antea based its existence in three simple principles :

1-    whose are called “terminal patients” are people who have always something unique to share with other people, someone who needs to give importance to every single day of life.

2-    Life is a rare and precious gift so everyone has the right to live with human dignity until the last moment of life

3-    Suffering and forlornness must not wipe out person’s dignity  and essence.

That is why Antea work is very hard and we work at our peak possibilities everyday. Our intervention demands a constant attention, advanced and modern technologies and therapies. That is why our operators follow recurrent refresher courses, meeting and masters.

During the last 15 years ,more than 6.000 patients used Antea free services and about 30.000 patients ‘relatives participated to the Association activities.
